Pacers Last Week: Dec. 18 — 4-2 homestand, Pacers Gaming unveiled, Indy lands 2021 All-Star Game

A lot happens each week with the Pacers and it’s not easy to stay on top of it. Introducing a new weekly feature, Pacers Last Week, which should help keep you up-to-date on all things Pacers.

It’s good for the Pacers (and Paul George) to have both of those meetings behind them. Now, both parties can move on.

  • The Pacers (17-13) are fifth in the Eastern Conference.
  • Victor Oladipo was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday for the second time this season. He averaged Oladipo averaged 30.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.8 steals over a four-game stretch where the Pacers won all four games.
  • JAKKS Pacific Toy Company donated thousands of toys to the Pacers to distribute to more than 50 youth-serving non-profit organizations in cities across Indiana.
  • Pacers Sports & Entertainment unveiled its logo for Pacers Gaming, the fourth franchise under the PS&E umbrella. They are one of 17 teams in the brand new NBA2K League, which will begin competition in May.
  • The NBA selected Indianapolis as host of the 2021 All-Star Game.
  • I spoke with PS&E President Rick Fuson about Indy landing its first All-Star game since 1985.
  • Paul George says he got the closure he wanted and is happy to see his former team succeeding.
  • George also said Vic is the future and that every one should move on from his days there. This came after he heard boos all game long.
  • NBA announced that All-Star fan voting would begin on Dec. 21 and run through Jan. 15.
  • Glenn Robinson III provided an update on his rehabilitation.
  • Dwyane Wade explained why he is a big fan of GRIII.
  • Pacers point guard Cory Joseph led more than 400 volunteers in packing 90,000 meals to support the Million Meal Movement, benefitting the Midwest Food Bank and Gleaners Food Bank.
  • Oladipo was invited to the Colts’ Thursday Night Football game and he hammered the anvil before kick-off.
  • They concluded a season-long six-game homestand with a 104-98 loss to Detroit. They went 4-2, which made for a successful 12-day stretch.
  • First-round pick T.J. Leaf was assigned to the Mad Ants for the first time – and he finished with 20 points and nine rebounds Saturday night.
  • The two two-way contract guys, Alex Poythress and Edmond Sumner, swapped spots with Poythress returning to the Pacers. He will be part of the rotation, likely to receive 10 minutes per game. Two-way players are allowed to be with the parent team for 45 days and his has to be coming up soon. Sumner, meanwhile, has yet to play since ACL surgery last spring. He can participate in team drills, etc., and is aiming for a January return.
  • Former Pacer Scot Pollard has launched his own podcast, Planet Pollard.
  • NBA announced that All-Star voting will begin on Thursday., Dec. 21 (1pm ET) and run through Jan. 15.
  • NBA TV will show Monday’s game against Boston at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
  • LeBron James passed Larry Bird (59) in career triples-doubles, and praised him in the process.
