Victor Oladipo named NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week

Pacers shooting guard Victor Oladipo was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday. Oladipo earns the honor — for the first time — after averaging over 28 points over Indiana’s three-game span and leading the Pacers to two victories.

The 6-foot-5 shooting guard led the Pacers in scoring in each of its three games this past week, and has been Indiana’s leading scorer in all six of their games so far this season. To go along with his scoring, Oladipo also hauled in four rebounds per contest and shot over 60 percent from the floor.

Wins on the road at Minnesota on Tuesday and back home at Bankers Life Fieldhouse versus San Antonio on Sunday were equally impressive and boosted the Pacers to a .500 record. Oladipo poured in 28 and 23 points, respectively, in those wins. He also posted a season-high 35 points in Wednesday’s loss at Oklahoma City.

Sunday night, Oladipo let it be known he isn’t afraid to take the big shots. With the Blue and Gold trailing the Spurs by two in the waning seconds, Oladipo was isolated against San Antonio big man LaMarcus Aldridge. Oladipo created some space for himself before drilling a game-winning, step-back three-point basket to give Indiana a one-point lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Following the game, Oladipo expressed he felt comfortable with the Pacers, and back in the state of Indiana where he played collegiately for the Indiana Hoosiers.
