A lot happens each week with the Pacers and it’s not easy to stay on top of it. Introducing a new weekly feature, Pacers Last Week, which should help keep you up-to-date on all things Pacers.
- The Pacers hired Tim Brown Jr. as the Basketball Operations Coordinator. He comes to Indiana after two seasons with the Brooklyn Nets. Brown Jr. replacers Chris Taylor, who moved into a new role (Director of Basketball Operations) with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in July.
- Window graphics went up outside the Pacers’ gift store confirming Jason’s Deli will be replacing Dunkin’ Donuts.
- Longtime assistant coach Dan Burke was selected by the NBA to help with a Basketball Without Borders camp in Tel Aviv, Israel for the top 62 boys and girls 17 and under. It runs Aug. 13 through the 16th.
- The NBA released the schedule for the nationally televised opening week games, along with Christmas Day. The Pacers are not included. Former Pacers star Paul George and Oklahoma City will be featured in both: They’ll play the New York Knicks on Thursday, Oct. 19. Then, on Christmas Day, the Thunder host the Houston Rockets in the fourth of five Christmas Day games.
- The full 2017-18 schedule will be unveiled Monday (Aug. 14) at 6pm.
- Rookie T.J. Leaf joined the other first-round picks for the annual rookie photo shoot. (Here’s his first trading card.)
- Myles Turner shared his rating on NBA2k18: 84.
- Nate Taylor announced that he was leaving the Indianapolis Star and headed home to Kansas City. Before he packed the moving trucks, I recorded an exit interview podcast with him.
- For Paul George fans, he hosted a first annual celebrity fishing tournament at Castaic Lake in California. Jacob Wheeler, his professional fishing friend from Indiana who he used to spend hours with on Geist, flew out to compete with him. Russell Westbrook attended.
