Jeff Teague’s homecoming was short-lived. The 29-year-old point guard has agreed to a three-year deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves, a league source told VigilantSports.com.
Adrian Wojnarowski, now of ESPN, reports that it is worth $57 million.
There was mutual interest between Teague and the Pacers to re-sign him, but things changed when the Pacers altered their game plan after hearing from Paul George’s agent on June 16.
“Jeff has been terrific for us,” said Pacers president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard said on draft night. “There’s a lot of scenarios where we’d like to bring him back, some that we may not. But Jeff has indicated that he likes it here and we’re open to that possibility.”
The Pacers acquired Teague, the Pike High School product, just over a year ago in a three-team trade with the Atlanta and Utah that sent George Hill to the Jazz.
Teague had a slow start, but he hit his stride late in his only season with the Pacers. He averaged 15.3 points, a career-high 7.8 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game. He was the only Pacer to play in all 82 games.
