Glenn Robinson III to ride in the 61st annual 500 Festival Parade

Over the last several years, the Pacers have been represented in the 500 Festival Parade — and that will continue next week. In the annual parade, held on the day before the Indianapolis 500 (Saturday, May 27), all 33 drivers, along with other celebrities, ride through downtown Indianapolis atop the back of convertibles.

Representing the Blue & Gold at the 61st annual 500 Festival Parade will be Gary, Indiana native Glenn Robinson III. He is 23 and just completed his third year in the NBA. In his second under contract with the Pacers, the forward appeared in 69 games, starting in 27 of them, and averaged career-high numbers: 6.1 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.

This year’s theme is a passion for fighting through obstacles and overcoming challenges.

It’s the third straight year that the Pacers have had notable players participate in the event that brings thousands downtown. Previously, Paul George and former head coach Frank Vogel took part in the event, as did Myles Turner last year.

Robinson III has taken a larger role in the community over the last year, specifically in the number of appearances. Notably, he visited Brody Stephens, an 8-year-old who courageously fought leukemia but recently passed away, countless times. GRIII was a pallbearer at Stephens’ funeral.

Others expected in the parade: Governor Eric Holcomb, Mayor Joe Hogsett, Madison Kocian, X Ambassadors, David Alan Grier, Nathan Kress, Lyn St. James, and more. Holocaust survivor and forgiveness advocate, Eva Kor, will serve as the Grand Marshal.
