Lakers fans tried to recruit Paul George at Disneyland

What happens when someone famous goes out in public? They are spotted. And with today’s technology, they are almost always captured in photos and video because it’s that easy with an iPhone.

At Disneyland in Anaheim, California, Pacers star Paul George was recognized by many on Monday. Perhaps he was there to celebrate his daughter, Olivia, turning three. Or, it was just an afternoon out with the boys back home. George turned 27 on Tuesday.

Either way, the 6-foot-9 Palmdale native easily stands out. (Side note: Can you imagine the challenges famous individuals face when out in public? It would be exhausting.)

Lakers fans, who have desperately been pushing for George to come home to Los Angeles to help revitalize the storied franchise, tried to recruit him while he was back in Cali. This is one instance. It’s probably same to assume this happened a dozen times — on this outing alone.

Magic Johnson, their team president, already has sent a not-so-subtle hint to George that he is desired.

For the record, that is not George’s daughter beside him in the video above.

The Pacers’ season ended last month in four games to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and there has since been a changing of the guard. Larry Bird stepped down as President of Basketball Operations after 13 years and General Manager Kevin Pritchard replaced him.

“I don’t think it should impact him at all,” Bird said. “Paul is going to do what Paul wants to do. He’s going to make a decision that he thinks benefits him the best and that’s the way all players do it.”

We are all awaiting the results of the All-NBA vote because George’s potential earnings in a new contract would be worth an additional $70-plus million if he signed a five-year deal with the Pacers. He is under contract with the Pacers for next season.
