Pacers forward Paul George was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week, the NBA announced Monday. The award is for games played during the first full week of April (3-9).
George takes home the honors following an outstanding week in which he helped Indiana to three straight wins over Toronto, Milwaukee and Orlando. In doing so, George averaged 31.7 points and nine rebounds a game. A total of five candidates were considered for the award in the East.

Perhaps more important at this time of the season, a 3-0 mark last week moved the Pacers into seventh place in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
To no surprise, Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder grabbed the Western Conference Player of the Week honors after helping his team to a 3-1 mark while posting two triple-doubles and a game-winning bucket to beat Denver on Sunday evening.
