The awards, honors, and opportunities continue to come in for Quinn Buckner during this special year.

In July 2015, he traveled to Africa to be on the TV broadcast of the NBA’s first-ever game on the continent. A few months later, in November, he was inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. Coming up in October, he will be the honoree at the 15th annual Masquerade, which benefits the Simon Youth Foundation and the Pacers Foundation.

On Friday, it was announced that Buckner had been appointed to the Indiana University Board of Trustees by Indiana Governor Mike Pence.

“Quinn Buckner is a business leader, philanthropist, Olympian and Hoosier basketball legend,” Governor Pence said in a statement. “He epitomizes the Hoosier spirit and tradition that are synonymous with Indiana University and will do a tremendous job for IU.”

Buckner, the former IU standout from 1972-76 who was part of college basketball’s last unbeaten team, will serve a three-year term through June 30, 2019.
