Jordan Hill arraignment rescheduled to October 21

Jordan Hill was originally due in Alpharetta Municipal Court down in Georgia on Sept. 22. His arraignment, however, was rescheduled for the next month.

Hill’s new date to appear in court is Oct. 21 at 1:00 p.m., according to a source.

The Pacers have a preseason game in Chicago the night before, on the 20th. They will then conclude the exhibition portion of their schedule on Thursday, Oct. 22nd at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana against the Charlotte Hornets.

Hill, one of the Pacers’ many offseason signings, was arrested on Tuesday, July 28 shortly after 2:00 p.m. ET for going a blazing 107 mph in a 65 — northbound on the Georgia 400. He was charged with reckless driving and speeding. He was very cooperative with officers.

This incident occurred exactly two weeks after he signed with the Pacers on July 14.

“When questioned, Jordan said he was in a hurry,” George Gordon, the Public Information Officer for Alpharetta, Georgia, told VigilantSports.com. “The problem with this is — he abruptly cut off a vehicle when he changed lanes before a police unit caught up with him — any number of variables could have caused him to lose control of the vehicle at that speed.”

The Pacers completed a roster makeover this summer. There will be as many as eight new faces on the team. With excessive speeding, you are putting yourself and others in harms way. And it’s not a good look for a player new to a franchise.

“We have been informed Jordan was arrested for allegedly reckless driving in Atlanta, Georgia,” Pacers President Larry Bird said in a statement. “It is obvious we don’t condone this. We will address this with Jordan. This is a major concern of safety, not just for Jordan, but for others.”

The team will gather in Indianapolis by the end of the week, with media day set for Monday, Sept. 28 and the first day of camp then on Tuesday.
