Myles Turning heads at Summer League

Myles Turner’s play in the Orlando Summer League has Pacers fans excited for what’s to come. The Pacers’ first-round pick is a young 19-year-old center with tremendous potential.

Despite the team getting throttled Wednesday afternoon (90-65), Turner turned in 23 points (9-of-16 FGs, 5-of-7 FTs, eight rebounds, and four blocks. Joe Young also has performed well. He tallied a game-high 25 points, along with five rebounds and three assists.

The team’s draft picks combined for 74 percent of their points (48 of 65) in Wednesday’s loss.

On one sequence (as seen above), Turner rejected back-to-back shots. And later, he got UP to prevent a hoop.

Through three games, Turner is averaging 18.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4.3 blocks per game while shooting 60.5 percent.

But, remember: It’s Summer League. Some great NBA players had poor summer performances and vice-versa. It’s a great environment to see these players to play and compete against NBA players, some fringe guys, but it’s not everything.

“We’re all eager to see every minute Myles Turner is out on the court,” coach Frank Vogel said last week before heading down to Orlando.

By the way, the Pacers, who finished third the last two years, aren’t performing well. They’ve lost all three games and are last in points with just four.
