Pacers approved to wear Flo-Jos Friday in Detroit

Why mess with what’s working?

The Pacers are perfect (6-0) in their 90s Hardwood Classics, the Flo-Jos, and the consensus amongst the players and fans is for the team to adopt them full-time. While they’re not there yet, they are going to wear them at least one more game this season.

Only 23 Flo-Jos jerseys remain at the Pacers official store.

The team announced that they will be dressed in the Flo-Jo uniforms on Friday when they face the Detroit Pistons at The Palace of Auburn Hills. In order to do so, they had to get approval from the league office.

Wednesday, the Pacers wore them for the first time on the road and handled the New York Knicks, 102-86. In addition to winning all six games in which they’ve worn the Flo-Jos, they have scored at least 100 points in five of the six games.

The jerseys have been as successful in the team’s gift shop as they have been on the court.

I’m told, as of Thursday afternoon, 23 Flo-Jo jerseys are left for sale, including just ONE Paul George version. They sell for $121.50 each plus tax — $10 more than the adidas Swingman jerseys.

The team store was also able to cash in on George’s return this past weekend. During a typical game night, about 50 George name + number t-shirts are sold (for $23.35). Sunday, when PG-13 made his season debut, almost 200 were purchased.

Indiana is due for a uniform change. They have worn their current version since the 2005-06 season.
