Maryland student section flashmob an entertaining substitute to storming the floor

Hey college students,

Want to do something worthwhile, creative, and entertaining while attending a basketball game — or any sporting event for that matter?

Forget storming the court. Seriously. It’s played out (and most of the time laughable).

I know whenever a school knocks off a ranked team, you think you should rush the floor and jump up and down. Sweet! Feel better?

Now, I’ve never done it. I covered IU basketball — men and women — during my four years in Bloomington. I even called out the students for storming the court after beating No. 20 Illinois in 2011. I mean, really!?

While many schools have continued to do it, others have stood out above the rest for their creativity and new ideas. Like Arizona State’s Curtain of Distraction. Hilarious. Entertaining. Well done. (For some, a reason to watch the Sun Devils!)

The latest is Maryland students doing a flashmob during a first-half timeout. Props to them … (but then they had to go and ruin it by storming the floor after topping Wisconsin. Yeesh.)
