Quinn Buckner going in National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame

Quinn Buckner is part of an eight-member class to be inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame on November 20, 2015, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Quinn Buckner (right) celebrates going undefeated and winning the 1976 NCAA Title with coach Bob Knight and Scott May.

Buckner, 60, played four years at Indiana University and was a member of the 1976 NCAA Championship team that went undefeated, the last team to accomplish that feat.

In his four years in Bloomington, the Hoosiers were extremely successful. They posted a record of 108-12, including a 59-5 mark in conference play.

Buckner will be the fourth former Hoosier in the Hall of Fame, joining Branch McCracken, Walt Bellamy and Isiah Thomas.

From Phoenix, Illinois, Buckner is one of just three players — also Jerry Lucas, Magic Johnson — all-time to have won a championship at every level: High school (1971, 1972), College (1976), Professional (1984, Boston), and the Olympics (1976).

Buckner spent 10 years in the NBA with three teams, including his last season, 1985-86, with the Pacers. Following his very successful playing career, he’s been an insightful game analyst on television broadcasts of both college and pro games.

Buckner is the Pacers Vice President of Communications, and he’s in his 16th season as the analyst on TV broadcasts airing on FOX Sports Indiana.

… Now that is some “smooooooootherrrred chickkkkkkken!”
