2015 All-Star Weekend: Tamika Catchings to compete in Degree Shooting Stars

Pacers Sports & Entertainment will be represented after all at NBA All-Star Weekend on Feb. 13-15, which is being co-hosted by New York City and Brooklyn.

Indiana Fever star Tamika Catchings will compete in the Degree Shooting Stars challenge, part of State Farm All-Star Saturday night, sources told VigilantSports.com.

Teams consisting a WNBA star, current NBA player, and an NBA legend get things started on Saturday night (8:30 pm ET, at the Barclays Center) in a timed competition. Each team of three races to each hit a shot on their own — spaced out from short-range, mid-range, and to beyond the arc — and then they all hurry to get one to drop from mid-court.

Last year, “Team Bosh” featuring Miami’s Chris Bosh, Dominique Wilkins, and Swin Cash won with a time of 31.4 seconds in the championship round.

All events will be nationally televised on TNT.

Catchings, the WNBA’s Most Valuable Player in 2011, has been been involved at the NBA’s All-Star Weekend nearly every year for the past half-dozen years. In 2014, Catchings played in the Celebrity Game — for the fourth straight year — in New Orleans two days before the All-Star game.

Catchings announced in October that she plans to retire after the 2016 Olympics in Rio, so two more seasons for her in the WNBA. She was drafted by the Indiana Fever third overall in the 2001 WNBA Draft.
