Paul George surpasses one million Twitter followers

Paul George desires to be a household name. That’s one of the main reasons he changed his number from 24 to 13 in August — and is now PG-13.

Paul George, aka ‘Young Trece,‘ has hit another milestone on Twitter. He has topped one million followers — blowing away his teammates.

By comparison, @Pacers has 504K followers and Roy Hibbert, the second-most followed Pacer, has over 355,000.

George, who’s very outgoing and personable, gained the final 118K over the last 128 days. (He was the No. 1 searched NBA player on Google in 2014.)

For George, who first joined the social media site in July, 2009, it took him until Nov. 27, 2012 to get the first 100,000.

“I remember when I started the Twitter thing, it was around hundreds,” he told me after reaching the century mark. “Then, when I got to the thousands, I go ‘man, I got a lot of followers.'”

On August 26, 2013 (273 days later), he reached 300K. A little more than a year later, he gained more than 100,000 after suffering a broken right leg in Las Vegas.

George’s following is actually larger on Instagram. He 1.6 million followers on that platform.
