Pacers scouts in Treviso for adidas Eurocamp

Much of the Pacers’ scouting department is spending the weekend across the Atlantic Ocean in Italy. Representatives from all 30 NBA teams are expected in Treviso, Italy for the adidas Eurocamp, which runs from Sat. June 7th to Monday, June 9th.

Kevin Pritchard (General Manager), Peter Dinwiddie (Vice President of Basketball of Operations), Ryan Carr (Director of Scouting) and Pete Philo (Director of International Scouting) are among the Pacers’ contingent taking in the camp. Philo, who is in his first year on the team’s staff, was instrumental in putting on this pre-draft Eurocamp for years.

All in one place, NBA teams get a great look at overseas players that they don’t often have an opportunity to evaluate. International talent continues to be a big part of the game. The San Antonio Spurs, who are playing in the NBA Finals for the second consecutive season, have nine international players on their roster representing an NBA-record seven countries.

Some of the former camp attendees now in The Association include Marco Belinelli, Goran Dragic, Danilo Gallinari, and Serge Ibaka.

Well, that makes a lot of sense for Indiana, considering its only current pick in this year’s draft is No. 57. Phoenix owns the rights to their first-round selection – part of the exchange that brought Luis Scola to Indy for Gerald Green and Miles Plumlee.

For a great preview and read on the event, I suggest DraftExpress’ guide.
